- 00:03This programme contains some strong language
- 00:16And this is it.
- 00:18Ah. Yep.
- 00:20"One and two-bed flats still available."
- 00:23Yeah, so, basically, there's going to be a new housing development
- 00:26built here, which is really exciting.
- 00:29It's funny, cos you was protesting against all that last year. Yeah.
- 00:33I was dead against it last year.
- 00:35But then I applied to move into one of the new flats
- 00:37and I'm close to getting approved, so...
- 00:39..I'm sort of all for it now, really.
- 00:42The start of a new era. How exciting, Kurtan. Yeah.
- 00:46The one thing I'm most excited about is being allowed to have friends
- 00:49come over to the new flat. You'll come over, won't you, vicar?
- 00:52Yes, yes. Absolutely.
- 00:53Yeah, I'll be coming over to the new flat.
- 00:56Yeah, as long as you wear one of them plastic bibs
- 00:58that catches all the food.
- 01:00Well, that can be arranged.
- 01:03Yeah, all right. Yeah. Works for me.
- 01:18No, I haven't actually told Kerry and Kurtan yet that I'm leaving.
- 01:22I've been trying to find the right moment,
- 01:24but it's all been rather full-on.
- 01:28I actually just played my last game for the cricket club on Saturday.
- 01:33THEY CHEER
- 01:35Sorry, chaps, did you see that? It was a demon ball.
- 01:38It really moved off the seam. It moved a hell of a lot.
- 01:41Bloody useless.
- 01:45But, yes, it's full steam ahead getting ready for Bristol.
- 01:48Polly's been packing up the house
- 01:50while I've been tying up all the loose ends here.
- 01:52And on top of it all, we're right in the middle of preparations
- 01:55for the harvest festival.
- 01:57We've got a Heinz!
- 02:00Yeah, harvest is coming up, which I'm absolutely buzzed about.
- 02:04TO THE TUNE OF LORD OF THE DANCE: # Heinz, Heinz, wherever you may be
- 02:06# I am the Lord of the Heinz, says she
- 02:08# And Heinz... #
- 02:09Vicar's asked me to help out because the other volunteers
- 02:13are a bunch of emotional vampires
- 02:15and they just, like, drain the energy out of it.
- 02:18TO THE TUNE OF
- 02:18WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN:
- 02:18# Oh, when the Heinz... #
- 02:20June. # Goes marching in
- 02:22# Oh, when the Heinz... #
- 02:24Oh, come on, June.
- 02:25# When the Heinz goes marching in... #
- 02:29Take it away, June.
- 02:30# Want to be
- 02:31TOGETHER: # In that number... #
- 02:33Yes!
- 02:34# When the Heinz goes marching in. #
- 02:38And this is why I do harvest festival.
- 02:43Because of the atmosphere.
- 02:48Arthur is Lord of the Harvest.
- 02:49It's a bit of a village tradition.
- 02:51Basically, his job is to organise all the donations and that.
- 02:56He's been Lord of the Harvest every year since 1972,
- 03:00but, quite frankly, he hasn't been giving a fuck since 2003.
- 03:04Do you know how many boxes we've got sorted so far?
- 03:07No, how many?
- 03:08Well, you should know. You're Lord of the Harvest, mate.
- 03:11Yeah, he doesn't do anything.
- 03:13He just gets everybody else to work for him.
- 03:16But when The Gazette comes,
- 03:17he's bang right in the middle of the photo
- 03:20with a giant marrow, grinning like he's Bob fucking Geldof.
- 03:32KNOCKING ON DOOR
- 03:36Hello, Kerry, how are you? Hi!
- 03:38Yeah, I'm good. You want to come in?
- 03:40Now an all right time? Yeah, yeah. It's fine. Vicar's here. Ah.
- 03:43Vicar! Ah, Kurtan. Just going through paints.
- 03:46Ah. They're very dull. Great.
- 03:49Quick question for you -
- 03:51kitchen colour, Teal Tension or Mellow Sage?
- 03:54Hmm, I think sage is a nice, calm colour for a kitchen. Me and you,
- 03:59are very much the same.
- 04:01What?!
- 04:04What?
- 04:05Vicar!
- 04:09What are you here for? Just a chat, really.
- 04:11Just a chat, really.
- 04:15No, thank you, Sue, but thanks all the same. I'm fine.
- 04:18He's fine!
- 04:20Erm, I think the darker...
- 04:21What?!
- 04:24He's fine, he doesn't want one!
- 04:26What?!
- 04:29He doesn't want one!
- 04:34SHE SIGHS
- 04:36Shall we... Shall we go through to the living room?
- 04:40Yeah. Just want to have a chat with you about something,
- 04:43if that's all right? Yeah, sure. Yeah.
- 04:49Looking smart.
- 04:50Very smart. Thank you very much.
- 04:52New threads?
- 04:54Erm, you know I went to Bristol to see Jacob? Yeah. Yeah.
- 04:58Well, that wasn't the only reason I was there.
- 05:02I also met the archbishop.
- 05:05Ooh. Right.
- 05:08Yes, I met him to discuss me moving parish...
- 05:13..to Bristol.
- 05:14Right.
- 05:16And what does that mean?
- 05:19Well, it would mean I would be leaving the village
- 05:23to take up a new parish in Bristol.
- 05:30Leaving the village? Why?
- 05:34I just feel it's a good time for a new challenge.
- 05:38I think that's a really bad idea.
- 05:40Yeah, that seems utter madness to me.
- 05:42Look, look, I know it won't be easy, but...
- 05:45My job is not to stay comfortable and as much as love it here,
- 05:50with you all, I need to help people.
- 05:54I don't quite know what to say to that.
- 05:56But...you've got everything you need here.
- 05:59Who's decided this?
- 06:01Well, it's the archbishop who decides it... The archbishop?
- 06:04Who even is the archbishop? ..but also with my...
- 06:07I've never heard of the archbishop before, until today,
- 06:09and you're dancing to the sound of his flute.
- 06:12If the archbishop told you to kick a dog in the face, would you?
- 06:16No, but if he asked me to change parish then, yes, I would.
- 06:20That's terrifying.
- 06:21You're like a Sims character to the Archbishop,
- 06:24he can pick you up and plonk you down wherever he likes you
- 06:28and you just go along with it.
- 06:29What... What about us? What are we going to do?
- 06:31Yeah. Well, I think you're both mature enough for me to go.
- 06:35No, we're not. Especially her.
- 06:37I am me and I know I am not mature, am I?
- 06:40She's not mature. Well, I think you are mature.
- 06:42I'm not. What about Len?
- 06:44Just leave Len to shrivel up and die?
- 06:46Len will be fine.
- 06:48No, he might be fine in the body, he's not in the head.
- 06:50He's one of these people that when somebody he loves leaves...
- 06:53BOTH: ..they die.
- 06:54Look... Look, things will continue because there will be a handover
- 06:58to a new vicar and I... I don't want a new vicar.
- 07:00Do you want a new vicar?
- 07:02No, I don't want a new vicar.
- 07:03Well, then, let's not have a new vicar.
- 07:06Look, I know it's not easy to hear... Here's the deal.
- 07:08..it's a bit sooner than...
- 07:10You can have you little parish in Bristol or whatever,
- 07:13but you stay in the village here to live
- 07:15and you just commute to Bristol.
- 07:17That's a fair deal.
- 07:18That's very fair. That is fair, you've got to give it to him.
- 07:21Look, much as I would love to stay in the village
- 07:24and I really would, commuting just isn't practical,
- 07:28so I'm afraid I'm in no position to negotiate.
- 07:36SHE SCOFFS
- 07:39Well, you...
- 07:40Do you know what? I've seen this coming for a long time.
- 07:43Actually surprised it hasn't happened sooner, you know?
- 07:47Your ability to just drop everything like it never mattered
- 07:50or existed is baffling.
- 07:53And, actually, you're good at it and you've turned it into an art form
- 07:56and we walked right into that.
- 07:59Pulling the wool over our eyes since the very first day you got here.
- 08:02Well, do you know what? Good luck with it all.
- 08:04Hope it works out for you.
- 08:05Ker, do you want to say anything? I'm all right.
- 08:08Did you know about this as well?
- 08:09Is this all a thing that's been going on for a long time?
- 08:11Just leave it, Kurtan. Come on. No. Just go. We can have it out now.
- 08:14Come on. Let down - by the lot of you.
- 08:19I knew they would find it hard hearing the news,
- 08:21but, hopefully, over time, they'll be able to process this news
- 08:27and understand why I've made the decision I made.
- 08:31I would rather kill him than let another parish have him.
- 08:34I wholeheartedly agree with that.
- 08:36If we can't have him, then I don't want anyone to have him.
- 08:38I don't even want his family to have him.
- 08:40If he thinks this is going to be all hugs and kisses and fare-thee-wells,
- 08:43he's lost the plot, cos we ain't going to make it easy for him.
- 08:46No way.
- 08:47Especially when he's just prepared to piss everything up the wall
- 08:50like a piss artist.
- 08:51He has no idea what Bristol's like.
- 08:53He thinks it's going to be all lollipops and candy lanes.
- 08:56Well, it's not! It's all just smackheads and knife crime.
- 08:59And Clifton Suspension Bridge.
- 09:02But when you've driven over that once,
- 09:04you've driven over that a thousand times.
- 09:19SOFTLY: I've just noticed there's a slight discrepancy
- 09:22in the numbers of tinned soup.
- 09:24I don't know if you've noticed that...
- 09:26BANG
- 09:27Ah, Kerry, I was hoping I'd see you here.
- 09:29Yeah, well, I'm only here to hand in the pasta twirls
- 09:32and also hand in my resignation regarding Re - Harvest.
- 09:37I'd like to CC you into this as well, June.
- 09:39Ah, right, well, that's a shame, Kerry.
- 09:41Yeah, it is a shame, but in light of recent toxic friends
- 09:45emerging from the shadows, I feel I no longer have a choice
- 09:48in the matter. Actually, there was something I was hoping
- 09:51I'd be able to talk to you about, if you've got a moment?
- 09:53Well, quickly, because I feel I've already left this situation
- 09:59emotionally. I'll be really quick.
- 10:01Do you want to just pop over here?
- 10:03So...
- 10:06There was an unfortunate incident with Arthur,
- 10:09which I won't go into now,
- 10:10but it means I needed to talk to you about something.
- 10:13What about Arthur?
- 10:14There was an incident, but like I said, I'd rather not get into it.
- 10:17What did he do?
- 10:20It... It was more what he said.
- 10:22What did he say?
- 10:24He made an odious comment to June.
- 10:26What did he say to June?
- 10:28I'd rather not repeat it.
- 10:29Just say it.
- 10:32Well, OK, he said,
- 10:36"Crows belong in a field, not in the Cotswolds Village Hall."
- 10:40And she was very, very upset.
- 10:42That's actually quite witty for Arthur.
- 10:44Well, as a result, Arthur is no longer Lord of Harvest
- 10:50and has been expelled from the committee altogether.
- 10:52Yeah, well, about time, I say.
- 10:54So, I was wondering if that was something
- 10:56you might be interested in?
- 10:59What, Lord of the Harvest?
- 11:02Yes.
- 11:04What, me being Lord of the Harvest? Yes.
- 11:11I'll think about it, sure.
- 11:12Well, if you're in two minds, I can always ask June... Hang on.
- 11:15I've thought about it. ..she'll be fine with it.
- 11:17And seeing as no-one else is stepping up to the mark, yes,
- 11:21I begrudgingly accept.
- 11:22Oh, Kerry, that's wonderful. Thank you.
- 11:24But, can I just say, I'm quite frankly appalled
- 11:26that this didn't happen sooner.
- 11:28Right. But not so appalled that I won't take the title,
- 11:31but appalled none the same. Understood.
- 11:35Right, new Lord, new harvest.
- 11:38June, what you got for me?
- 11:53All right?
- 11:55All right?
- 11:57Thought you lot would be here.
- 12:03Did you see the bald snake?
- 12:05Yeah. And how is he?
- 12:08Seems all right. Seems fine.
- 12:12Oh.
- 12:14Do you think he realises how much of a laughing stock
- 12:16he's going to be in Bristol?
- 12:17He's a laughing stock here!
- 12:20Do you know what they say about him at the cricket club? No, what?
- 12:24They say, "The only runs the vicar gets is in his cricket whites,"
- 12:28and that's from elderly village residents, Ker,
- 12:30not from Bristol wise guys.
- 12:31Yeah, that's scary.
- 12:33They'll skin him alive in Bristol.
- 12:37Do you know what? I've actually washed my hands with him now.
- 12:40I don't want anything to do with him. Yeah?
- 12:42Yeah, I wish I could do that and all.
- 12:47What do you mean? You can.
- 12:49Well, I can't, because our paths
- 12:51are going to sort of cross, unfortunately,
- 12:54me being Lord of the Harvest now, and that.
- 12:57SHE SIGHS
- 12:59What can you do? Wait, hang on.
- 13:01Who made you Lord of the Harvest?
- 13:04The crown sort of fell on my head...
- 13:07..as it were. Oh, my God.
- 13:11The puppet master strikes again.
- 13:13The vicar asked you, didn't he?
- 13:16Well, he just sort of said, you know, Arthur's not doing it...
- 13:20What, and you said yes?
- 13:21Well, yeah.
- 13:22Because who else is going to do it, you know?
- 13:24You can't just go round cancelling the harvest, Kurtan.
- 13:27Oh, my... That would be mad.
- 13:29That man has no shame.
- 13:31He's just fobbing you off, Ker.
- 13:33He knows you're as thick as compacted pig shit.
- 13:35Wow! Kurtan!
- 13:39That's the Lord of the Harvest you're talking to.
- 13:42A bit of respect would be nice.
- 13:47Where are you going?
- 13:50Vicar has made Kerry Lord of the Harvest
- 13:52because he is a master manipulator.
- 13:54He's a game player, OK? And he gets off on it.
- 13:57He is like Jigsaw in the SAW films.
- 14:00You know? He wants you to think he's got a good moral compass,
- 14:03but, in reality, he's just a sick fuck who get off on watching you
- 14:06scoop your own eyeballs out to get a key to unlock your chains.
- 14:12And then you think you're free
- 14:13and he comes in riding on a little trike, going,
- 14:15"Let's play another game."
- 14:17But I ain't playing it.
- 14:20No, thank you. Not for me.
- 14:31Well, yes, I've got Nick coming down for a chat today.
- 14:34Nick!
- 14:35Hello. How are you?
- 14:37He's a vicar from a neighbouring parish
- 14:39to the one I'm taking on in Bristol.
- 14:42He wanted to see me to make sure
- 14:44we're on the same page for when I take over.
- 14:47I mean, the problem is always what you spend your money on. Yes.
- 14:50I did ask if it could wait till I was there,
- 14:53but he's keen to get the ball rolling.
- 14:56Tell me what it is you do here.
- 14:58Er... Well, erm...
- 15:01So, I guess I'm always keen on trying to think of new initiatives
- 15:06to bring communities together and such.
- 15:08All right, great. What sort of things?
- 15:10Well, for instance, we recently started a river walks initiative
- 15:16which basically involves doing a weekly walk along the river bank.
- 15:20Yep, yep.
- 15:22What else? Oh, erm...
- 15:24We... We-we-we recently had a very successful
- 15:28Fly Me To The Moon event which involved about seven kids
- 15:33making and launching stomp rockets,
- 15:36which was fun but educational as well.
- 15:38Right.
- 15:41Sorry, I'm just waffling on.
- 15:45What about you?
- 15:47I mean, what works in Bristol?
- 15:49Well, the initiative that's probably been the most successful
- 15:52was the needle exchange.
- 15:54Oh, right. Well, we do a similar thing here, actually.
- 15:56It's very popular. Really?
- 15:58Yes, more with the older women.
- 15:59I say, I didn't know you had so many needle felters in Bristol.
- 16:05Just realised we're not talking about the same type of needles.
- 16:09No.
- 16:13Uh, yes, I think I may have underestimated the job in Bristol.
- 16:19And, certainly, talking to Nick has given me pause for thought.
- 16:24I hope I've made the right decision.
- 16:26We've had huge cuts to policing,
- 16:28we've had huge cuts to mental health provision,
- 16:31and we are expected to pick up the slack.
- 16:33Yes, yes, of course.
- 16:34I mean, when I joined the church 20 years ago,
- 16:37I never dreamed I'd hear of vicars wearing stab vests.
- 16:40Oh...no.
- 16:41Goodness, goodness me, no.
- 16:52Oyez! Oyez!
- 16:54Collecting for harvest.
- 16:56Don't draw your curtains, I know that you're in, Carol.
- 17:03Go behind me, like this.
- 17:06DOOR OPENS
- 17:08Hello. Oh, hiya there.
- 17:09I don't know if you've heard about a little scheme that we're doing,
- 17:12it's called harvest.
- 17:13Have you heard there's a new Lord of the Harvest in town?
- 17:16That's me and I'm just knocking door-to-door,
- 17:19collecting non-perishable goods.
- 17:21This is exactly the sort of thing
- 17:23the Lord of the Harvest should be doing.
- 17:25You know, getting in amongst the people,
- 17:27collecting the taxes thyself.
- 17:29And if the harvest doesn't come to you,
- 17:31you've got to go out to the harvest.
- 17:33And, if needs must, be a little bit pushy with harvest.
- 17:36Tins, tins, tins, tins, tins, tins, tins...
- 17:45Yeah, don't want that.
- 17:47Thank you for supporting the harvest. OK.
- 17:50The Lord of the Harvest since 1972 would just sit in his ivory tower,
- 17:55like Prince Philip, and he wouldn't get out amongst his people.
- 17:58So, nobody... Everybody was so scared of him that...
- 18:02What I do, I'm like a Princess Diana.
- 18:05I'm a Meghan Markle.
- 18:06I get out amongst my people. I kiss babies on the head. You know?
- 18:10I shake people's hands.
- 18:12I'm up for cutting ribbons on, you know, new businesses,
- 18:16bakeries, little coffee shops.
- 18:23Because I am the people.
- 18:27But I'm also higher than them because I have the hat.
- 18:41Yes, I am worried about how Kurtan's doing.
- 18:45He's a little more internal than Kerry.
- 18:48So I thought I'd take a quick look at his Facebook page
- 18:52as he can be more vocal on there
- 18:54and there were a couple of posts that concerned me a bit.
- 19:00So... Yes, this one.
- 19:03"Nothing hurts more than being disappointed
- 19:06"by the one person you thought would never hurt you,"
- 19:10which, sadly, I think is about me.
- 19:12And then, there's this one.
- 19:16"Don't get all depressed over a vicar from your past,
- 19:19"that's like being sad because the garbage man picked up the trash,"
- 19:23which I'm pretty sure is also about me.
- 19:27Yes, it's upsetting to think of leaving the village on bad terms,
- 19:32but it is slightly out of my hands.
- 20:00DOORBELL RINGS
- 20:06Hello, Kurtan. You all right?
- 20:08How are you?
- 20:09Yeah, fine. Ah, great.
- 20:10Well, I was just popping round to give you this.
- 20:15Oh, right. What is it?
- 20:17It's just a little house-warming gift for your new flat.
- 20:20It's a waffle maker cos I know how much you love your waffles.
- 20:24Oh, right, yeah.
- 20:26VICAR CHUCKLES
- 20:27So, how are you?
- 20:30Yeah. Yeah, fine.
- 20:32Haven't seen you for a bit.
- 20:34No, I just... Yeah.
- 20:37Just been busy...doing stuff.
- 20:39Is there anything else, cos I just got to...
- 20:42Erm... Oh, I meant to say, if you need any more help
- 20:46with the housing application,
- 20:48cos it's still just in its final stages, isn't it?
- 20:51No, it's fine. You can pop round.
- 20:53No, no. No... ..come round. OK.
- 20:56Well... All right, well, thanks for that.
- 20:58Yeah, well... Yeah. You're very...
- 21:00OK, thanks. See you later. Thanks, Kurtan.
- 21:11He fucking pisses me off.
- 21:14Cos if I knew how upset I'd be when he was going to leave,
- 21:17I would never have got involved with him in the first place.
- 21:22He's like Andy from Toy Story.
- 21:25He should've just sat all his toys down from the start
- 21:28and said, "Look, guys, at some point I will grow out of all you lot.
- 21:33"And that's the way it's going to be."
- 21:37"Cos when I'm in my twenties,
- 21:39"I'm not going to want to be sat in my room playing with Woody and Buzz.
- 21:42"I want to go out clubbing, doing ket, shagging birds."
- 21:47"So whatever your plans are for the future,
- 21:50"just don't include me in them."
- 21:56And all the toys would have been like, "Wow, that fucking hurts,
- 22:01"but at least we know where we stand.
- 22:04"Thanks for being honest."
- 22:15Erm, yes, it's been very busy
- 22:17and obviously there's still a lot of unfinished business.
- 22:21I do feel that time is escaping me a little.
- 22:23KNOCKING
- 22:25Oh, hello, June.
- 22:26Vicar, we really need to talk about your hollyhocks.
- 22:30What about them?
- 22:31We'll they've shed their petals all over the path
- 22:33and they're going brown and it looks rather unsightly.
- 22:36I haven't really had a moment
- 22:38but once I've finished here, I'll sort it, OK?
- 22:40Will you be clearing the Japanese knotweed on the vicarage
- 22:43before you go or will you just leave it to riddle the brickwork
- 22:46for the next vicar? Because I'm not sure if that's fair.
- 22:50Look, June, I've had rather a lot on.
- 22:52Yes, but remember, you're not in Bristol yet.
- 22:56I'm well aware of that, June, thank you.
- 23:10Super Noodles.
- 23:13Yes, please.
- 23:14Yeah, people have been pretty generous so far.
- 23:17I mean, I really wouldn't be surprised
- 23:19if this was the most bountiful harvest that was ever harvested.
- 23:23And, you know, I'm pretty sure as well
- 23:27that I will go down in history
- 23:29as the greatest lord that's ever lorded the hardest.
- 23:33Vicar! Look at the haul that me and Pork Chop got.
- 23:36Where did you get all this from?
- 23:38There's a hell of a lot of electricals here.
- 23:40Oh, just going door-to-door.
- 23:42Kerry, that's really not in the spirit of harvest.
- 23:46Why can't I trust you to do anything without taking it to the extreme?
- 23:50It's for a good cause. Where did you get this waffle maker from?
- 23:53Oh, Kurtan donated that.
- 23:56I bought this for Kurtan for his new flat.
- 23:59Yeah, he said he didn't need it. What do you mean?
- 24:03Er, cos he's not going to bother with the flat. What?
- 24:07Yeah, he said what's the point.
- 24:10Where did I put that other thing? Oh, that's just brilliant.
- 24:13To think I could have been of any use in Bristol
- 24:16when I can't even help here. Hm.
- 24:20Right. I want everything here taken back right now.
- 24:27What, even the tins?
- 24:29Of course not the tins, stop being so bloody churlish.
- 24:33Vicar, your... It's getting really boring, June.
- 24:45What the fuck?
- 24:51Did you just see that? Vicar's lost it.
- 24:54I never ever seen him like that before.
- 24:56Like, he properly... There was one minute
- 24:58where I thought he was going to spark out June.
- 25:00She was stood there shaking like that...
- 25:03But, yeah, I think he's going to bottle going Bristol.
- 25:10Which is good.
- 25:20I, er...
- 25:23I thought I was ready to leave the village but...
- 25:28..I-I think it's all just a big mistake.
- 25:31Things here are falling apart.
- 25:33Kurtan's given up his flat.
- 25:36I'm shouting at June.
- 25:39I'm clearly not the right person for this Bristol job.
- 25:45I've never seen the back of someone's head that's so sad. Yeah.
- 25:50It's really funny.
- 25:53Sounds funny.
- 25:56It was.
- 25:59Sounds it.
- 26:03The thing about our vicar is that he believes in everyone else
- 26:06but he doesn't believe in himself.
- 26:08As soon as he gets a bit of self-doubt in his head,
- 26:11it eats away at him.
- 26:13So I know if we lay just one more guilt trip on him, he'll crumble,
- 26:18like a Jenga in a Hurricane.
- 26:22And he'll forget about Bristol and leaving the village
- 26:25and everything will just go back to normal, which is all I really want.
- 26:31Are you sure you want to do this?
- 26:34Yeah. Fuck it. Let's do it.
- 26:39But one thing I have learnt from the vicar is that sometimes
- 26:42the thing you want isn't necessarily the right thing to do.
- 26:50Vicar, can we have a word? Yes, of course, come in.
- 26:57Is everything OK?
- 27:04Y-you know you've got to go, don't you, Vicar?
- 27:15Yeah?
- 27:16You're going to be great.
- 27:20Kurtan. I hope so.
- 27:22I just hope they realise what they've got. Yeah.
- 27:27You're a legend.
- 27:30But you are annoying as well. Really annoying!
- 27:34And you've really got to pluck them hairs on the top of your nose
- 27:37cos that's going to really wind everyone up.
- 27:40Yes, I know. Yeah?
- 27:42Thank you, Kerry. Thank you, Kurtan.
- 27:46Ohhh!
- 27:49Are you wearing Jean-Paul Gauthier, Vicar?
- 27:53Yeah.
- 27:54Smells really nice.
- 27:57Thanks.
- 27:58Well, I don't want him to go, believe me,
- 28:01but I know there's people out there that need him more than we do.
- 28:05The village won't be the same without him,
- 28:07but we've got to set him free now.
- 28:10Yes, cos it's exactly like when Swindon sold Sam Parkin
- 28:14to Ipswich Town.
- 28:16You know, we lost one of our finest ever strikers that day.
- 28:19We did, yeah, but he had to go. You know, he was restless.
- 28:23Mm. He had to leave to progress his career
- 28:26and the very least we could do was grant him his transfer request
- 28:29after years of exceptional service he give to the club.
- 28:35And, yeah, he did fail at Ipswich
- 28:37cos ultimately he was massively out of his depth.
- 28:40His career just nosedived after that but...
- 28:45..I'm sure the same won't happen to you, though, Vicar.
- 28:56BIRDS TWEET
- 29:03CHURCH BELL CHIMES
- 29:05Of course it'll be sad to go but it's the right time to leave.
- 29:11I just needed a push in the right direction.
- 29:14The village has been a wonderful home,
- 29:16but above all it'll be the people I miss.
- 29:20All right? Oh, hello, Mandy, how are you?
- 29:23You leaving, are you? Erm, yes.
- 29:26Yes, I am, sadly. Well, good luck with it all.
- 29:29It's never really worked out for you here, has it?
- 29:33Well, I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here. See you later.
- 29:36Yes, thank you, Mandy.
- 29:41The thing about living in the village is that people come
- 29:44and people go.
- 29:46But the vicar has done so much here
- 29:49that a part of him will always be in the village.
- 29:53See ya. See ya. Bye. Behave yourself. Bye.
- 29:59HONKS HORN
- 30:01A very wise man once said,
- 30:04"Wherever I roam, this place will always be my home."
- 30:09Yeah.
- 30:12Who said that? John McCririck.
- 30:17Talking about Cheltenham Racecourse.
- 30:23He can't have lived at Cheltenham Racecourse though, surely?
- 30:27No, but he was there a lot.
- 30:33It had a Premier Inn, it was just outside the racecourse.
- 30:36He was just booked in, constantly.
- 30:40He'd just turn up, wouldn't have to phone and book in advance.
- 30:45He's just turn up and they'd go, "Oh, John, your room's ready."
- 30:50Makes sense.
- 30:59That's my house there, look. Yeah.
- 31:05That's where my new flat is going to be, over there. Oh, yeah.
- 31:12And look, Rob Robinson's farm, up there, look.
- 31:19Who's that?
- 31:23Rob Robinson.
- 31:26Who's Rob Robinson?
- 31:29Are you joking? No.
- 31:34Rob Robinson.
- 31:36The guy who was in our class in Year Seven for like two weeks
- 31:39and then totally disappeared off the face of the Earth.
- 31:44I went on that whole quest to find out what happened to him? Did you?
- 31:48Yeah, for like a week!
- 31:49Don't remember that.
- 31:51These lot were there, they filmed the whole thing.
- 31:55Well, I've never watched this.
- 31:59Y-you've never watched a documentary that you're in? No.
- 32:05Not really my sort of thing.
- 32:14How can you not remember? I think you've lost the plot, mate.
- 32:18How have you forgotten him twice?
