- 00:02This programme contains strong language.
- 00:16White van, I'd hazard...
- 00:18No, it's not a hazard. That's fine.
- 00:21Bus stop, I'd hazard. Why?
- 00:23Because there's pedestrians at the bus stop.
- 00:26Hazard, that. That's not a hazard. You don't know what a hazard is.
- 00:29Another bus stop there. Can you get your f... hands out?
- 00:31Bloke on the bike, look!
- 00:33No helmet on! Hazard. Yes, I've hazarded it. Chap...
- 00:36Get your hand... I can't see the fucking screen.
- 00:38Dog! Dog there!
- 00:40I'd hazard the dog.
- 00:42Failed! Well done.
- 00:45Well, you should've hazarded that dog.
- 00:48He was on the pavement.
- 00:49Yeah, well, what would you have done if it ran out on the road, then?
- 00:54Well, braked? You should never brake for a little dog.
- 00:56Why?
- 00:58Because... Well, yeah, you're braking for the dog,
- 01:01saves the dog's life,
- 01:03but what about the family of four
- 01:05that are ploughing into the back of you?
- 01:10I can just see the headlines now -
- 01:13"Four dead, dog survives".
- 01:19And you'd be happy with that, would you?
- 01:25Cos that's warped.
- 01:29Yeah, well, some exciting news.
- 01:32Er, I'm learning to drive.
- 01:34I've got my provisional licence through
- 01:36and the vicar said he's going to take me to the airfield in his car
- 01:39so I can have a practice.
- 01:40I actually can't wait for you to pass. I know.
- 01:43Think of all the places that we're going to be able
- 01:45to go now on our own. Yeah.
- 01:47Like Gloucester Services.
- 01:49Yeah. Monkey enclosure at Longleat.
- 01:51Yeah.
- 01:53TGI Fridays.
- 01:54Frankie & Benny's.
- 01:56Jamie's Italian in Cheltenham.
- 01:58It's closed down now.
- 02:00You're joking? No.
- 02:02They've got YO! Sushi, though.
- 02:04Hm...
- 02:10I'm busting, Vicar! Yes, one moment, Len!
- 02:12GROANS
- 02:12There you go, Len.
- 02:16Yes, er,
- 02:18it'll be great for Kurtan to have his independence.
- 02:20I remember how grown-up I felt getting my first car,
- 02:24a mustard-yellow Morris Minor called Milly.
- 02:27She was a cracking little runaround...
- 02:29...until I made the mistake of running out of petrol
- 02:33outside a Wimpy filled with skinheads
- 02:36who then proceeded to jump up and down on the roof.
- 02:40She couldn't withstand the weight of 25 pairs of Doc Martens
- 02:44and, unfortunately, crumpled like a can of Coke.
- 02:47Eventually, I had to be cut out by a fireman,
- 02:51just as my sixth-form crush, Mary Potts,
- 02:54walked past with her friends
- 02:56on their way to the barn dance that I never got to attend.
- 02:59That's where she met Peter Ainsworth.
- 03:02They're married now.
- 03:06Sorry, I'm not sure how I got onto that. Anyway,
- 03:08we're very excited for Kurtan, though.
- 03:11Vicar! There's no bog roll!
- 03:13Er, well, can you...can you just hang on till
- 03:15I get some kitchen roll, maybe, Len?
- 03:17No.
- 03:20WHISPERS
- 03:20I'm so sorry.
- 03:23I'm just coming! I won't be a second.
- 03:25Come on! I'm on the brink of disaster here.
- 03:34So, if you want to learn how to drive, Kurtan,
- 03:36you first need to learn how a car works.
- 03:39No, I don't.
- 03:40So, I'm just going to pop the hood up, like this.
- 03:43Vicar, this is really not necessary.
- 03:45Just cos I eat toast doesn't mean you'd know how a toaster works.
- 03:48Now, that's the sort of arrogance
- 03:50that'll get you killed on the motorway, mate.
- 03:52Right, so, this is the coolant reservoir tank.
- 03:55Kurtan, are you listening? Yes! Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
- 03:58Kurtan can't stand learning
- 04:01anything new from anyone.
- 04:02Like, he's sort of got to figure it out himself first.
- 04:06Here is the oil. Right.
- 04:08And this is the dipstick.
- 04:10Yeah, I know you are, but what's that?
- 04:12LAUGHS
- 04:13This one time, um, I was trying to show him how to
- 04:16get past level five on Theme Hospital,
- 04:19and he ended up throwing a Muller Corner at me,
- 04:21and it hit me right there,
- 04:23and I actually still have the scar there, look.
- 04:26I don't know if you can see it?
- 04:29And, um, ironically,
- 04:31the corner of the Muller Corner
- 04:34hit me right in the corner of my cornea...
- 04:38..and I was standing in the corner of the room when it happened.
- 04:43I mean, spooky or what?
- 04:52This is going to be a brilliant day.
- 04:54REV FRANCIS LAUGHS
- 04:56I can't wait to get my hands on that wheel. Ah, good.
- 05:00Can I drive us to airfield?
- 05:01Er, no, Kurtan, you can drive when we get there.
- 05:05Right... I've, um, just got to quickly pop round to June's.
- 05:12June's? Why? I can't stand that woman.
- 05:14I won't come in, if that's OK?
- 05:17Well, I've just got to return a sprinkler hose I borrowed from her.
- 05:20Well, can't you just do it on the way back?
- 05:22Well, er, no, because she's quite insistent she needs it now.
- 05:26She's opening her garden to the public tomorrow.
- 05:29I beg your pardon?
- 05:31Well, she's doing one of those open garden things.
- 05:34I beg your pardon?
- 05:35She's doing one of those open garden things, you know?
- 05:38Do you hear this? I already knew,
- 05:40but I didn't say anything because I knew you'd react like this.
- 05:42GASPS
- 05:42She's got some nerve, ain't
- 05:42she? Like her garden is that good.
- 05:46Do you know what? That makes my blood absolutely boil.
- 05:50Why? Well, it's just the sheer arrogance of it.
- 05:52It is arrogant, in a way.
- 05:54I'm sorry, I disagree. I think it's a lovely thing to do.
- 05:57June has a lovely garden.
- 05:59Unbelievable.
- 06:00HE SCOFFS
- 06:14KERRY GASPS
- 06:1650p she's charging.
- 06:17She's charging? Well, what's the money going towards?
- 06:20Her garden. Her garden! Her garden!
- 06:23Er, right, sprinkler, please, Kurtan.
- 06:26Thanks. Thank you.
- 06:27Right, I'll be back in two ticks.
- 06:31I am absolutely... June?
- 06:33Look how much I'm shaking with rage, Ker.
- 06:35I cannot believe she is charging admission like
- 06:37it's the fucking Eden Project. Yeah. That's despicable.
- 06:41She is ghastly, that woman! Look at her.
- 06:48Do you know what? What?
- 06:50One of my earliest ever memories, right...
- 06:53Hm?
- 06:54..is, I was at the open-air pool
- 06:56and I was in the changing rooms, and June was in there, right?
- 07:02And her towel dropped for, like, a second.
- 07:07I actually saw her pubes.
- 07:14And they were, like, really long and wiry,
- 07:17and I remember thinking at the time
- 07:19they looked exactly like the roots on a parsnip.
- 07:22Have either of you seen Len? Not for a while. Why?
- 07:25It's just June said he didn't turn up for the free meals evening
- 07:28at the village hall last night.
- 07:29Come to think of it, he missed his morning, um, appointment.
- 07:32And...? Well, it's just odd.
- 07:34He never misses his free meals, and he's usually very regular.
- 07:37That is very unlike Len, to be fair.
- 07:39Yes, look. I think I might just
- 07:41swing by the lock-up and check if he's there.
- 07:45HE SIGHS
- 07:45Fine, but can it be quick,
- 07:45please?
- 07:48Seat belts, please, guys.
- 07:50I don't need a seat belt cos I'm in the back.
- 07:52Yes, you do, Kerry. Yes, you do, Kerry, cos if we crash,
- 07:55you'll go into the back of me and I'll splat on the windscreen.
- 07:58That's absolutely true, Kurtan. Kerry, please? Seat belt.
- 08:01Well, I think it's ridiculous, but...
- 08:04SEAT BELT RATTLES Gently! I keep saying don't yank it,
- 08:07and then it'll come out. I'm not yanking it, am I? OK.
- 08:10Look, it's out now. Good.
- 08:12Clunk, click...
- 08:15Thank you.
- 08:16ENGINE STARTS
- 08:16..suck my dick.
- 08:18I beg your pardon? Nothing.
- 08:41Oh, the door's closed. I'll check if he's inside, quickly.
- 09:00Is he there? Nah.
- 09:03VICAR SIGHS
- 09:05Right, um, well, I'd like to do a quick recce
- 09:07of the marketplace, if I may. All right.
- 09:10Oh, gimme a sec. What's he doing?
- 09:15Kayleigh!
- 09:16Oh, God, that is tragic.
- 09:19What is?
- 09:21Kurtan's still got a thing for Kayleigh.
- 09:24Oh, really? How do you know?
- 09:26Because he's talking to her side-on so she can't see his birthmark.
- 09:29Oh, he shouldn't be ashamed of his birthmark.
- 09:32He says it's the one thing that lets him down.
- 09:35Do you know how else I know that he fancies Kayleigh?
- 09:38How?
- 09:39Because, in five seconds,
- 09:41he'll smooth his curtains, just watch.
- 09:44Five, four, three,
- 09:47two, one...
- 09:50Absolutely predictable as hell.
- 09:53HE LAUGHS
- 09:54How funny.
- 09:56PHONE RINGS
- 09:57Oh, who's this? Wait.
- 09:59Oh, it's June. I wonder if it's about Len.
- 10:01Hello, June?
- 10:05Oh, really? Right. Oh, dear.
- 10:08I'm terribly sorry, I had no idea.
- 10:11I didn't see any scuffage on it when I left it with you.
- 10:16Well, I wouldn't have scuffed it intentionally, June.
- 10:21Well, yeah, OK. Well, I'm a little bit pushed for time now
- 10:24but I'll see what I can do, OK?
- 10:25All right. OK. Bye. Bye, June, thank you.
- 10:29Whew! That's upset me a little bit.
- 10:32What did she say?
- 10:34June says the sprinkler hose was scuffed.
- 10:37I mean, if it was broken,
- 10:39then of course I'd replace it. Oh!
- 10:42But a little bit of cosmetic damage I mean, really,
- 10:44what does it matter? It's a hose, for heaven's sake.
- 10:47I don't know why you give her the time of day,
- 10:48to be perfectly honest. She's bad news.
- 10:52OK, well, just remind me to pop round the garden centre later,
- 10:54otherwise I don't think we'll hear the end of this, Kerry.
- 10:57Right.
- 11:00Here he is.
- 11:02Yeah, you done flirting, then, have you?
- 11:05I wasn't flirting.
- 11:06I don't even fancy her! God!
- 11:08I wouldn't do that to Slugs, anyway.
- 11:12God, you're so annoying, Kerry. Why would you even say that?
- 11:15All right, chill out!
- 11:19Why? Do you think SHE was flirting?
- 11:29She was being a bit flirty, actually.
- 11:43Right, he's not here. Let's go. Hang on, I'm going to pop in the shop
- 11:46and see if Mrs Wicks has seen him, OK? Oh, if you're going to the shop,
- 11:50can you get me something real quick? Er, yes, I suppose.
- 11:52Can you get me some Dairylea Dunkers?
- 11:54The tubes, not the breadsticks. Yep, OK. Oh, and a bag of Quavers,
- 11:56like, the grab bag. You'll know the difference,
- 11:58cos it's considerably larger. Er, OK.
- 12:01Oh, and a Ripple as well would be great.
- 12:03And, if they haven't got that, a Topic will be fine.
- 12:05Um, also, a bottle of Coke. Like, full-fat Coke, not Diet Coke.
- 12:08Not sugar-free Coke. And don't get me a Pepsi,
- 12:11cos I will not drink it.
- 12:13SIGHS
- 12:13Kurtan, anything for you?
- 12:15No, just be quick.
- 12:17Oh, and a beef baguette from the bakery as well, please.
- 12:19No, Kerry, I'm not going in the bakery.
- 12:21Well, a triple sandwich from the shop will be fine!
- 12:26SHE SIGHS
- 12:29It's always a bit too much for him, isn't it?
- 12:32The vicar's a drama queen.
- 12:34Plain and simple.
- 12:36You know, a drama doesn't just walk into his life willy-nilly.
- 12:39He creates it!
- 12:41And there's no place he'd rather be than at the centre
- 12:43of an almighty shitstorm that he's created.
- 12:47You know, you can't save a damsel if she loves her distress.
- 12:52And you can't save someone from a shark
- 12:56who's insistent on doing one of them shark experiences
- 13:00where you go in a cage and you're lowered into water and you have...
- 13:05Sometimes they put, like, raw meat in the cage
- 13:08so you're guaranteed to see a shark.
- 13:12Hm?
- 13:14What? That's got nothing to do with anything.
- 13:18Has it not?
- 13:21You just want to talk about that documentary
- 13:23you watched last night about sharks.
- 13:25A little bit, I suppose.
- 13:29You'll cut that...won't you?
- 13:34Did you want to ask me about sharks at any point?
- 13:37Because I did watch a really good documentary about it.
- 13:40I'd just stop.
- 13:42OK.
- 13:45You're making yourself look silly now.
- 13:56Honestly, Vicar, this is getting ridiculous now.
- 13:59Kurtan, I'll be very quick. I just want to check with Arthur.
- 14:01Well, quicker, then. Yeah, OK, just wait there.
- 14:13What are you doing? Having a play around.
- 14:24Fuck it, I could just drive us to airfield now.
- 14:26Yeah, but you won't.
- 14:28Well, I can.
- 14:29Can't, because you don't know how to drive a car.
- 14:31Er, I do know how to drive a car.
- 14:33Not like the vicar, you don't.
- 14:34He's only in the car for me for insurance purposes.
- 14:38I could rag it round the village right now. No, you can't,
- 14:40cos you don't even know how to get into first.
- 14:42Of course I know how to get into first. How, then?
- 14:45Clutch down, into first.
- 14:46Yeah, how does first go? Across...
- 14:48Oh, fuck, it's Mandy.
- 14:50Oh, for fuck... Keep your head down. She's seen us as well.
- 14:53WHISPERS What's she pointing for? Fuck.
- 15:08Oh. All right, Mand?
- 15:10All right? Yeah.
- 15:18Where have you...where have you been? Into town, have you?
- 15:22Yeah.
- 15:27Just on your, er, way back from town, are you?
- 15:32Yeah.
- 15:34Cool.
- 15:44What's in that bag?
- 15:46What, this? Yeah. That's just a brick in a pillowcase.
- 15:49OK.
- 15:49ENGINE STARTS
- 15:52I think we've got to go, actually. It's a no-waiting zone here.
- 15:55See you, Mand!
- 15:56What are you doing? Getting away from that fucking nutcase.
- 15:59Kur! Kur! Oh, fuck! Oh, fuck, it's a dead end.
- 16:02KERRY GASPS
- 16:04Oh, fuck!
- 16:06You stalled. Yes, I know I've fucking stalled.
- 16:08Reverse. Go into reverse.
- 16:10Kur!
- 16:11Yes. Reverse.
- 16:13How? Go into reverse.
- 16:15That's it, down like that. Yeah.
- 16:16Right? Check your mirrors, go round... Like this.
- 16:21That's it, that's it, that's it, that's it, keep going.
- 16:26Keep going, you've got plenty of room, plenty of room, plenty of...
- 16:29CRASH
- 16:29Stop!
- 16:31Oh, fuck! What was that? What was that?
- 16:33Recycling bin. Oh, for fuck...
- 16:35Just get out the car, get out the car.
- 16:37For fuck's sake. Put the handbrake on, then.
- 16:40It is on!
- 16:42Fuck's sake.
- 16:44Right, we've got plenty of room here, plenty of room.
- 16:48RECYCLING BIN RUMBLES
- 16:49Right, that's it.
- 16:51ENGINE REVS
- 16:52What...?
- 17:07SHE PANTS
- 17:07Thanks for that.
- 17:15Vicar's coming.
- 17:26The car's the wrong way round. Huh?
- 17:28The car's the wrong way round.
- 17:30Oh, fuck!
- 17:32It's too late to turn it round. He's going to go apeshit.
- 17:34Don't fucking say anything.
- 17:35He can't have a go at me, I'm just an innocent passenger.
- 17:39Sorry about that, folks.
- 17:40I was trying to make it quick,
- 17:43but Arthur wanted me to help him with his Sky box.
- 17:47And, unfortunately, he hasn't seen Len either.
- 17:51So...
- 17:53Is everything all right? Yeah, fine.
- 17:55Right.
- 17:57ENGINE STARTS
- 18:09Vicar is so unobservant.
- 18:11Isn't he?
- 18:12Yeah, like, we changed the screensaver on his phone
- 18:14from a picture of his wife at Warwick Castle
- 18:18to a picture of Lucy Pinder topless,
- 18:20and he didn't notice for, like, two years. Nah.
- 18:23I'm actually a bit worried about it.
- 18:25I think he's got signs of early-on-set dementia. Yeah.
- 18:31Either that, or he just loves big honkers.
- 18:33Honkers? What's honkers?
- 18:35Conkers.
- 18:37Shooters.
- 18:39Norks. Oh, don't do that.
- 18:43CUTLERY CLATTERS
- 18:51What are you pulling over for? Now, look...
- 18:54Huh?
- 18:56I think we should head back to the bowls club.
- 18:58It's the only place we haven't tried. Oh, my God. Hang on a sec!
- 19:01Kurtan, right, has been so patient with you,
- 19:04and you've been breaking promises
- 19:06left, right and centre, have you not? Yes. Look...
- 19:09I'm sure that the village can cope without you for half an hour.
- 19:12I know, Kerry, and I understand but...look...
- 19:15It's just that we have to...
- 19:16PHONE RINGS
- 19:16Sorry.
- 19:19Oh, no, it's June. Don't answer it, don't answer it.
- 19:22Yeah. Honestly, people like Len and June are going to be
- 19:25the death of you. Now, let's just switch your phone off, right?
- 19:28And we'll just go for a drive.
- 19:33Yes. Yeah? Yes, you're right.
- 19:36Go away, June.
- 19:38Yeah, get stuffed, June.
- 19:41Yeah, parsnip pubes.
- 19:43Enough!
- 19:44What?
- 20:06OK, Kurtan.
- 20:08So, gently off the clutch, gently accelerate.
- 20:10That's it. Now let's build up a little bit of speed.
- 20:13Very nice, Kurtan.
- 20:14Take it nice and slow, that's fine. Yeah.
- 20:17OK. Gently on the accelerator.
- 20:20That's it, check your mirrors.
- 20:21Yes, quite right, Kerry. Yes, I have. Check mirrors, Vicar.
- 20:23He didn't check that one. Yes, well, I can't see
- 20:26anything out of the rear-view mirror, having your big,
- 20:28bloated John Travolta head... Kurtan! Well, I can't listen
- 20:31to two people at the same time, I'm afraid.
- 20:33Look, Vics, pass me that little tin of sweets
- 20:35and I'll just keep myself entertained, like.
- 20:38There you go, Kerry.
- 20:40OK. Now...
- 20:42..can you indicate as if you're going to pull over?
- 20:45Brake slightly,
- 20:47foot down on the clutch, two hands on the wheel...
- 20:50Kurtan, two hands on the wheel!
- 20:52Sorry. Muscle memory from impressing birds at the Dodgems.
- 20:55And pull in anywhere on the left-hand side.
- 21:07Isn't this lovely?
- 21:10It's quite nice to get out of the village.
- 21:12Yeah. And you need to relax an' all, don't you, Vics?
- 21:16HE EXHALES
- 21:16I do.
- 21:17You worry too much about what other people think
- 21:21and not enough about what you yourself think about you.
- 21:26Yeah, you're a people-pleaser, Vicar. You're a people-pleaser.
- 21:29But you can't please everyone. No.
- 21:31Yeah. Yes, I suppose I am.
- 21:34HE CHUCKLES
- 21:36Well, yeah, even at school,
- 21:37I always wanted everyone to like me. Huh!
- 21:41I think a lot of my anxieties come from my father, actually.
- 21:46Why? Well...
- 21:49Was he like you? Gosh, no!
- 21:52He was actually a bit of a brute.
- 21:53He hit you? No! No. Well...
- 21:57He did?
- 21:58Well... Well, what did he do?
- 22:02Well, I mean, there was... There was... All right.
- 22:05There was this one time when I was in grammar school
- 22:09and, you know, I'd worked all summer to save up money
- 22:12to pay for this...
- 22:13HE LAUGHS ..this pastel-yellow suit jacket
- 22:17with sewn-in shoulder pads.
- 22:20Are you joking? No, I'm not.
- 22:22I know it sounds bizarre, but it was
- 22:24the height of fashion in the mid '80s.
- 22:26Plus, I was a massive Duran Duran fan.
- 22:30Anyway, when I walked through the front door,
- 22:33my father grabbed me and he pulled me in
- 22:37and he'd been, er, entertaining some
- 22:41of his friends from the Rotary Club,
- 22:44and he pulled me into the dining room...
- 22:47..and I could tell he'd had a few, because his breath was acrid.
- 22:50HE SIGHS
- 22:52"Look at my son, Francis," he sniggered.
- 22:55"Look how wide his shoulders are!
- 22:58"We'll have to take the door frames off
- 23:00"just so he can fit through the door!"
- 23:02And then he, um... Then he paraded me round the room
- 23:04like I was some sort of circus sideshow,
- 23:08and, huh, his friends laughed and they laughed
- 23:13and they laughed and...
- 23:15So, your dad was a bit of a joker, then?
- 23:18Well, um...
- 23:20..you could say that.
- 23:23Anyway, by then, I'd just about had enough of it
- 23:26and, er...
- 23:29..as I wriggled out of my father's grip,
- 23:32I...I accidentally shunted one of my mother's favourite picture frames
- 23:38off the wall and it smashed on the floor.
- 23:43My mother burst into tears...
- 23:48..and my father said, "Look at what you've done, Francis!
- 23:53"Look at what your loud fashion has
- 23:55"done to your mother's favourite picture frame!"
- 24:00Well, I...I just felt awful.
- 24:05I remember just locking myself in my room,
- 24:09my eyes were stinging with tears.
- 24:11Huh.
- 24:14I never wore that jacket again.
- 24:20And from, then on...
- 24:24..I vowed that I would never...ever
- 24:30make anyone feel as rotten as he made me feel that day.
- 24:36He never hit you, though?
- 24:39He just took the piss out your jacket, right?
- 24:43Well, there were other times.
- 24:46Anyway, I suppose I've been, er...
- 24:49Oh, I suppose I've been overcompensating ever since.
- 24:58Well, no-one's perfect, Vicar.
- 25:02No, that's right. You got that right there.
- 25:04Even Jesus wasn't perfect.
- 25:06He had loads of faults, apparently.
- 25:10Like what? Well, he was really into prostitutes.
- 25:13No... He was. No. Who told you that, Kerry?
- 25:15No, it was Mary Magdalene, or someone.
- 25:17Oh. And apparently, also, he was massively sarcastic.
- 25:21Sarcastic? Yeah.
- 25:23Who did you hear that from? Mandy told me. Mandy?
- 25:26Yeah, because there was this one time where 5,000 people
- 25:30went round to his house and said,
- 25:33"Oh, I heard you got a load of food for us,"
- 25:35and he goes, "What? The two fish and the five loaves
- 25:39"that I've got in the fridge?"
- 25:42And they were like, "Yeah," and he was like,
- 25:45"Oh! OK! I'll just rustle that up for you, then.
- 25:48"How many of you is there? Just the 5,000 of you, is it?"
- 25:52And they were like, "Yeah."
- 25:57Hm... Well, I'm...
- 26:00I'm not sure Mandy's the right person to go to
- 26:03for biblical interpretation, Kerry.
- 26:08We'll read it sometime.
- 26:27Garden centre. Mm? Garden centre?
- 26:29To get June a new sprinkler hose.
- 26:32You said to remind you.
- 26:34Remember? You know what? I don't think I will.
- 26:37She's one of the main contributors to my stress,
- 26:41and I suspect I'll have some rather barbed voicemails from her
- 26:44when I switch my phone back on.
- 26:51Oh, no...
- 26:52Oh, no, no, no, no, no. What's going on here?
- 26:54What's this?
- 26:56Oh, my God.
- 27:00What...?
- 27:08Oh, God.
- 27:11Len!
- 27:16Len, are you all right?
- 27:18LEN GROANS
- 27:19Arthur, what happened?
- 27:20I found him... I found him under a bush.
- 27:23He was sparked out.
- 27:25It's dehydration, they reckon, you know?
- 27:28Silly bugger. Oh, well, thank God you found him.
- 27:31Well, if it hadn't been for the flies buzzing around his stink,
- 27:34I don't think I would've.
- 27:37Yeah, well, another hour, he would've been a goner.
- 27:41Well done, Arthur. Well done.
- 27:43Now, you get yourself better, you old git!
- 27:46Hey? I need you around to make me look good.
- 27:49LEN: Yeah! Stop!
- 27:52Well, that's more like it.
- 27:55KERRY: Is it wrong that I'm absolutely buzzing off of this?
- 27:58Nah, it's brilliant. My chest, my heart.
- 28:02This turned out to be one of the best days of my life. Yeah.
- 28:05Second to the time on the village Bonfire Night
- 28:08when a Catherine wheel got jammed
- 28:10and it just kept firing at Mrs Wicks on the cake stall,
- 28:14and she was so frightened,
- 28:15she's just stood there and she opened her mouth to scream,
- 28:19and no sound came out.
- 28:24Kurtan does a very good impression of it, don't you?
- 28:26Yeah.
- 28:28Well, do it, then.
- 28:36Exactly like that.
- 28:41Do your impression of Farmer Jenkins finding out his wife's dead.
- 28:45Nah, not in front of them.
- 28:58Yes, Len's doing much better.
- 29:00They kept him in overnight.
- 29:02I went to visit him this morning,
- 29:04and he seems to be getting back to his old self.
- 29:07Turns out he drank some stagnant water from a birdbath
- 29:10and lost a lot of fluids from having the squits,
- 29:14um, but I got him a mobile phone,
- 29:18and, should anything like this happen again,
- 29:20he can just ring me,
- 29:22and, next time, I won't have my phone switched off.
- 29:26It was a close call and certainly, for me, a lesson learned.
- 29:28PHONE RINGS
- 29:32Oh, that's Len now.
- 29:35Hello, Len.
- 29:39Sorry, what's that?
- 29:41Oh, crisps!
- 29:42OK.
- 29:44Is there...is there anything you fancy
- 29:45that has slightly less salt in it, Len?
- 29:47It might be better for you at the moment.
- 29:50No? OK, crisps it is, I shall get you crisps, Len.
- 29:54Anything else?
- 29:57Brassed Off on DVD? Fine. I shall have a look in the library, Len.
- 30:01HE CHUCKLES
- 30:01How are you feeling, any...?
- 30:03HE STUTTERS
- 30:03Bye. Bye, Len. Bye.
- 30:15Shh!
- 30:17You gotta see this. This is brilliant.
- 30:19No-one's been in. Not one single person.
- 30:21How long has it been now? About four hours. Four hours.
- 30:24And she reduced it down to 20p as well. How desperate is that? Look.
- 30:27She's packing up, she's packing up.
- 30:29Brilliant, simply brilliant.
- 30:31I hope she's utterly crushed by this.
- 30:33Do you know what? She couldn't even rely on the vicar...
- 30:35Yeah. ..to turn up. Because if you alienate your friends,
- 30:38your friends will alienate you.
